Terms & Conditions

1. What OurTales is
OurTales lets you build and publish a website ("Tale") — a Story page or a Shop — using our tools, templates and hosting. By creating an account or publishing a Tale, you agree to these Terms.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or guardian's permission, and be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you're using OurTales on behalf of a business, you're confirming you have the authority to do so.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has access to it. You can delete your account whenever you like — see "Deleting your account" below.
4. Your content, your responsibility
Everything you write, upload or publish on your Tale — text, photos, videos, product listings, prices — is yours, and you're solely responsible for it. You confirm that you have the right to use everything you publish, and that it's accurate and lawful.
You may not use OurTales to sell or promote anything illegal, publish content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark, impersonate another person or business, or publish content that is fraudulent, defamatory, or intended to harm, harass, or mislead others.
5. Plans, pricing and renewals
All prices are in Indian rupees (INR) and are shown before you pay. Story and Shop plans run for a fixed period of 1, 6 or 12 months. An Invitation page is a one-time payment and does not expire. Payments are processed by our payment partner, Razorpay — OurTales does not store your card or bank details.
Plans do not renew automatically and there is no recurring charge. When a plan ends, your page goes offline. Nothing is deleted, and if you renew, the page comes back at the same link. A renewal is added after your current end date, so you don't lose time you've already paid for.
About 3 days before a plan ends, we email a reminder to the address on your account. The reminder is a courtesy: if it doesn't reach you, or arrives late, your plan still ends on its date.
6. Refunds
Refunds follow our Cancellation & Refunds policy. In short, a payment for a plan is generally non-refundable once the plan has started, except for billing errors and where the law requires otherwise. If a page is taken offline for a violation of these Terms, no refund is given for the remaining period (see "Taking a page offline" below).
7. Taxes — including GST
You are solely responsible for determining whether your business is required to register for GST, or any other applicable tax, and for meeting any tax obligations that apply to you — including based on the revenue you earn through your Shop or Story page, regardless of the payment method your customers use. OurTales does not provide tax or legal advice, is not responsible for your tax compliance, and takes no responsibility for any penalty, fine, or liability arising from your failure to register for or pay any tax you owe.
8. Shops and orders
OurTales records orders for the shop. When a customer places an order on a Shop page, we save it, show it to the shop in its Orders screen, and tell the shop owner by email and, if the owner has turned them on, by phone notification.
Payment is made directly from the buyer to the seller, outside OurTales — by UPI where the shop offers it, or as arranged between them, for example on WhatsApp. OurTales never holds, handles, verifies or guarantees any payment from a buyer. A transaction ID that a buyer enters is only a note for the seller; we don't check it. Whether an order has been paid, accepted or delivered is decided by the seller alone, and OurTales is not a party to the sale.
The seller is responsible for their products and descriptions, prices and stock, delivery, returns and refunds to their buyers, GST and other taxes, any licences their products need, and for following consumer-protection and e-commerce law. Buyers should take any question about an order, delivery or refund to the seller.
The WhatsApp number you give for a Shop must be a real, working number that you control, because customers use it to reach you. A Shop without a working WhatsApp number can't take orders or buy a plan. If we find the number isn't real — for example, a fake or disconnected number, or one that doesn't belong to you — we may take the page offline under "Taking a page offline" below.
Buyers must give a delivery address when they place an order, unless the seller has marked the shop as pickup-only or services (nothing is delivered). Sellers should choose that setting honestly. A seller may use a buyer's details only to deal with that order, and must look after them lawfully — see our Privacy Policy.
9. Taking a page offline
If a page appears to break these Terms — for example it sells something illegal, uses content you don't have the right to use, or lists a WhatsApp number that isn't yours — we may take it offline. We would rather fix a problem than remove a page, so where that makes sense we'll tell you what we found and give you time to put it right.
When we take a page offline, we email the address on your account to say so, with the reason and how long you have to resolve it. The page stays offline while we sort it out.
If a page is brought back, the days it was offline are added back to your plan, so you don't lose paid time. If it was taken offline because of a violation of these Terms, no refund is given for the remaining period.
Termination is permanent. If a page is terminated — for example after serious or repeated violations, or if an issue isn't resolved in the time given — it is taken down for good. If you think we've made a mistake, write to us and we'll look again.
10. Emails and notifications
We email you about your account and pages: login codes, plan reminders, notices about your page and, for Shops, enquiries and invitations, a notice when an order, enquiry or RSVP arrives. You can also turn on phone notifications from your Dashboard, and turn them off whenever you like.
On very busy days we limit how many emails we send so that login codes and plan emails always get through. That means non-essential emails — such as order and enquiry notices — may be delayed or skipped. Phone notifications may also be delayed or may not arrive, depending on your phone and the services that deliver them. Orders and enquiries are always saved and shown in your Dashboard (Orders and Replies) whether or not an email or notification was sent, so please check there and don't rely on emails or notifications alone.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen. This removes your pages, photos, orders and enquiries, your notification devices and your login. Your pages go offline straight away, and no refund is given for any plan time that is left. We keep only the payment records that the law requires us to keep, as described in our Privacy Policy. The details of buyers in your shop's orders are deleted with it.
12. Third-party services
OurTales relies on third-party services — including payment processors, WhatsApp, email and notification services, and hosting providers — to operate. We're not responsible for outages, errors, or failures caused by those third parties.
13. No warranty
OurTales is provided "as is." While we work to keep it reliable, we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OurTales' total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost business.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to let you know. Continuing to use OurTales after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.
