OurTales

Privacy Policy

1. What this covers

This explains what personal information OurTales collects when you create an account, build a Tale, order from a Shop, send an enquiry or RSVP, or visit a Tale someone else has published — and how we use, share and keep it. It applies alongside our Terms & Conditions.

Two groups of people are involved. Page owners (account holders): we use their information to run OurTales for them. Buyers and visitors who order from a Shop or send an enquiry: we store their details on the page owner's behalf, so the owner can deal with the order or enquiry. Only the page owner can see those details. We don't browse them; we handle them only to keep the service running, to carry out a deletion request, to help the page owner who asks, or where the law requires.

2. Information we collect

From page owners. When you create an account: your name, email address and password (we never see or keep your password in readable form). When you publish a Tale: a phone number, so we and your customers can reach you, plus whatever content you add — text, photos, videos, product listings and prices. When you pay for a plan: our payment partner, Razorpay, processes your card or bank details directly — OurTales never sees or stores them — and we keep a record of the payment itself (amount, plan, and Razorpay's order and payment references) so we can confirm it and keep your plan active.

From buyers who order from a Shop. Their name, mobile number, delivery address (not asked when the shop is pickup-only), email address (if they give one), a note to the seller (if they write one), the items they ordered, and — if they choose to report a UPI payment — the transaction ID they enter.

From visitors who send an enquiry or RSVP. Their name, phone number or email, their message, and their RSVP answers.

If you turn on phone notifications. A notification address for that phone or browser (a technical code issued by Apple, Google or Mozilla) and the kind of device it is. We use it only to send you notifications about your own pages — new orders, enquiries and RSVPs — and you can turn it off at any time from your Dashboard. The notifications never include a customer's name, number or amount.

Visits. We count visits to a page (the date and time only — no names or other identifiers) and basic information about which features are used, to understand what's working and fix what isn't.

3. Why we use it

To create and run your account; build and host your Tale; process payments and keep your plan active; save an order or enquiry and pass it to the shop it was meant for; email and notify page owners about orders, enquiries and RSVPs; email you about your plan and your page; answer you when you contact us; deal with requests to see, correct or delete information; keep OurTales secure and prevent misuse; meet legal and accounting duties; and improve OurTales itself.

4. Who sees it and who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. A buyer's details on an order are seen by the shop they ordered from, and by no other page owner. We don't email or message buyers ourselves.

We share information only with the service providers that make OurTales work — Razorpay for plan payments, our email provider for the emails we send, the push-notification services of Apple, Google and Mozilla for delivering phone notifications you've turned on, and our hosting and database providers for storing your account and Tale content securely — and with authorities where the law requires us to.

5. If you run a Shop or take RSVPs

When someone places an order, RSVPs, or sends an enquiry through your Tale, OurTales stores their details on your behalf and shows them to you in your Orders and Replies screens; we also email you, and notify your phone if you've turned that on. As explained in our Terms, the sale is between you and your customer. You may use their details only to deal with that order or enquiry, and you are responsible for looking after them — including having your own privacy notice for your customers where your local law requires one.

You can delete a single order, erase a customer's details, or delete an enquiry or RSVP at any time from your Orders and Replies screens.

6. How long we keep it

These are the periods we keep each kind of information. After them it is deleted or, for orders, stripped of personal details.

7. Your rights and how to use them

You can ask to see a summary of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it erased, to withdraw a consent you gave (for example, by turning off phone notifications), and to nominate another person to exercise these rights for you if you cannot.

Page owners. You can change your name from the Account screen, delete a page, an order, a customer's details or an enquiry yourself, and delete your whole account — see "Deleting your account" below. For anything else, write to us at the address in "Grievance Officer" below.

Buyers and visitors. To have your details erased, email ourtales03@gmail.com with "Privacy request" in the subject, the phone number or email address you used, and the name of the shop. We'll confirm it's you, then erase your name, phone, email, delivery address, notes and transaction IDs from that shop's orders and customer lists, and your enquiries and RSVPs, within 30 days. We keep only the order number and total, with no personal details. The shop's Orders screen will show that a customer's details were erased at their request, without saying who.

We may keep information we are legally required to keep, and we may need to confirm who you are before acting on a request.

8. Deleting your account

When you delete your account from the Account screen, we remove your pages, photos, orders and customer lists, enquiries and RSVPs, notification devices, login codes and login. We then email you a short confirmation.

We keep only what the law requires: the payment records described in the table above (Razorpay order and payment IDs, amount, plan, dates, billing email and page address), for 8 years from the payment, and the short record that a deletion request was handled. Nothing else is kept.

9. Children

OurTales is intended for people 18 and older, as set out in our Terms. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

10. Security

We use encrypted connections, keep access to your information limited, and use trusted providers to store it. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

11. Grievance Officer and your rights

If you have a question or complaint about how OurTales handles your personal information, or you want to see, correct or delete it, withdraw your consent, or nominate someone to act for you, write to our Grievance Officer:

Grievance Officer, OurTales
Email: ourtales03@gmail.com
Subject line: "Privacy request"

We'll acknowledge your message within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If we need more time, or need to confirm who you are first, we'll tell you why. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India once it is operating.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to let you know. Continuing to use OurTales after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
